A couple of services will give you numbers to receive faxes, such as eFax Free and FaxBetter, although they both will charge you for outgoing faxes. eFax Free gives a toll number that you can give out, and your faxes come via email as attachments. You have to download its software to be able to read the attachment, of course; but it’s a small price to pay if you don’t want to buy an actual fax machine (or figure out how to hook up your all-in-one, which has been sitting in a box in your garage for two years.)
FaxBetter gives you a toll-free number and up to 20 free incoming pages a month, but if you don’t get a fax every week, it deactivates your number.
