We are fast approaching ChatGPT’s third birthday, and professionals from all industries are still seeking how generative AI can make their lives easier.
This week I wanted to find some free training to help you learn the latest technologies with hands-on exercises, but I was stunned when I saw that many of the online courses were all about listening and learning instead of doing and achieving.
That’s just not acceptable! And I’m going to do something about it.
Free Webinar Alert!
Join me September 19 at 2pm Central for a free hands-on program. Learn more here!
Until then, take a look at these options to get the introductions and overviews and education you might need.
Quick Links
Platform-Specific Courses
Many AI platforms offer their own app-specific training. They’re great if you want to focus on one tool.
- Microsoft Copilot Training
Lots of developer and IT professional stuff here, but scroll down the page for specific applications for business users. - OpenAI Academy
Surprise! OpenAI has tons of courses to help you learn OpenAI tools like ChatGPT, Sora and more. It has special sections for education, nonprofit, government and professional users. Looks like most is free, and some come with certifications you can buy. - Google Skills Boost Generative AI Leader
Cool starting place for using AI at work, complete with hands-on exercises with Gemini tools.
Training for Teachers
Google’s Generative AI for Educators is brand new! Teachers will learn how to use AI to make their lives easier and get a certificate that earns P.D. credit to boot.
Audit AI Courses for Free
- Coursera
Coursera is one of my very favorite sites for online education. They offer dozens (hundreds?) of AI-related programs (you can often audit a course for free and pay only if you want a certificate). Choose from popular titles such as Generative AI for Everyone, Generative AI: Prompt Engineering Basics, Trustworthy Generative AI and Navigating Generative AI Risks for Leaders. - IBM SkillsBuild
IBM has lots of free courses plus a hands-on program to create your own chatbot. Scroll down the page to see more programs for educators.
Bonus: LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Premium gives you access to the 22k+ LinkedIn Learning platform courses, including 1000+ AI courses. It’s about $250 per year, but there’s a free trial. You also get some other LinkedIn features that you can’t use in the Basic level.
